Our Rabbi - Rav Menashe East
Rav Menashe East grew up on the East coast, with a family that instilled a love and reverence for Judaism. From an early age, Rav Menashe was blessed to study Torah with his father and grandfather. Rav Menashe’s other great teacher, his mother, modeled commitment to community, directing a JFS.
Rav Menashe attended the Hesder Yeshiva, Shalaviim, in the Ayalon Valley, for two years. Hesder is a five year program that combines army service and Torah study for highly committed young Israeli men.
After Israel, Rav Menashe returned to New York and attended Yeshiva University, where he studied Torah, obtained a bachelor’s degree in literature and completed master’s level course work in Jewish thought.
Rav Menashe then attended Yeshivat Chovevei Torah (YCT), founded by Rabbi Avi Weiss. In YCT’s study hall, Menashe was exposed to brilliant, rigorous Torah scholarship and an open mindedness to the breadth of Jewish thinking and people. Alongside his rabbinical studies, Rav Menashe is pursuing a Master of Social Work degree.
